Bumble, Match, Panera Bread and CrunchBase Hit by Cyberattacks, Bloomberg Reports

Kuala Lumpur, 29 January 2026 – Multiple well-known companies, including dating app operator Bumble Inc., Match Group, Inc. (operator of apps such as Tinder), Panera Bread and business information platform CrunchBase, were victims of cyberattacks in recent days, according to a Bloomberg News report based on statements from the companies.

Scope of the Cyberattacks

The companies have disclosed varying degrees of impact:

  • Bumble said the intrusion did not compromise its member database, user accounts, messages or profiles, and that core user information remains secure.
  • Match Group, parent company of Tinder and other dating services, acknowledged that a limited amount of user data was affected, but emphasised there is no evidence that login credentials, private messages or financial information were accessed.
  • Panera Bread confirmed that an incident occurred involving contact information, and has already notified law enforcement authorities.
  • CrunchBase said certain documents on its corporate network were affected but that the breach has been contained.

So far, the affected companies have not released detailed technical analyses of how the attacks occurred or provided timelines for remediation, and some have not commented outside regular business hours.

What It Means for Users and Businesses

Experts say such cyberattacks, even if limited to contact or corporate information, underscore ongoing security threats facing digital platforms and corporate networks. Organisations are being reminded to maintain strong incident response plans, multi-layered authentication, and continuous monitoring to detect suspicious activity early and contain intrusions.

Users of affected services may be advised to watch for unusual account activity and enable additional security measures like two-factor authentication where available. Corporate entities impacted by breaches often work closely with cybersecurity firms and regulators to investigate and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
