London, 2 October 2026 – Balfour Beatty has returned to the FTSE 100 after a 17-year absence, reflecting a sustained recovery in the UK infrastructure contractor’s market value and investor interest in power networks and complex construction. The index change took effect on 1 October, moving the company out of the FTSE 250 and back among London’s largest listed businesses.
The move follows a substantial share-price advance. The stock has more than tripled since the start of 2022 and has traded near a record high. Contract wins, earnings performance and shareholder returns have supported that re-rating. Index membership itself does not create new operating profit, but it can alter the stock’s visibility and the holdings of funds that track large-cap UK benchmarks.
