AWC Berhad Secures SGD3.9 Million Contract in Singapore for Pneumatic Waste System

By Abigail Cheong2 min read

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 September 2025 — AWC Berhad has announced that its sub-subsidiary Stream Environment (S) Pte Ltd has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Singapore’s Housing & Development Board (HDB) for the design, build, and operation of a Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System (PWCS) at Project DC and Project DD.

The contract, valued at SGD3.9 million (approximately RM13.0 million), involves a multi-phase scope that will see Stream Singapore undertake both design and construction responsibilities. Design works for both projects are scheduled to begin on 2 October 2025, with completion expected by 1 October 2026. Construction will then proceed over a 24-month period from commencement instruction.

Reinforcing AWC’s Environmental Solutions Footprint

The award strengthens AWC’s presence in Singapore’s environmental engineering market, where Stream Environment has established a track record in delivering automated waste conveyance systems for urban communities. PWCS technology is increasingly being deployed in high-density developments for its efficiency, hygiene, and environmental benefits, reducing reliance on manual waste collection while improving sustainability outcomes.

AWC’s Board noted that the risks associated with the contract fall within the company’s normal operational parameters and are similar to other works of this nature. No director, major shareholder, or related party has any direct or indirect interest in the deal.

Earnings Impact and Market Relevance

According to the company, the contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the AWC Group over the duration of the project. While modest in absolute value compared to some larger infrastructure works, the project underscores recurring demand for automated waste solutions in Singapore’s public housing sector.

For investors, the project reflects AWC’s ability to continue securing niche, high-value contracts in regional markets, reinforcing its positioning as a specialist in environmental technology and smart city infrastructure. As urbanisation accelerates and sustainability standards rise, opportunities in pneumatic waste conveyance and automated waste solutions are expected to grow, providing recurring visibility for AWC’s environmental solutions segment.

Outlook

The contract further diversifies AWC’s earnings pipeline beyond Malaysia, adding regional balance at a time when sustainability-linked infrastructure is gaining traction. Continued success in securing projects from government bodies such as HDB also enhances AWC’s credentials and competitive positioning in Southeast Asia’s environmental solutions space.
