Australian Inflation Miss Cuts Near-Term RBA Hike Expectations

Sydney, 29 July 2026 – Australian inflation slowed more than expected in the June quarter, easing market pressure for another interest-rate increase by the Reserve Bank of Australia. The result gives policymakers more room to assess whether price pressures are moderating without sacrificing progress on demand and employment.

Consumer prices rose at a slower pace as fuel costs retreated from earlier peaks, while underlying inflation also came in below forecasts.
