Anwar Says Any US Pardon For Jho Low Will Not Change Malaysia’s Position

Kuala Lumpur, 3 July 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has made clear that any possible pardon involving fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, would not affect Malaysia’s position on the 1MDB case or its pursuit of accountability over the multibillion-ringgit scandal.

Anwar said Malaysia’s stance remains unchanged, stressing that the country would not support or consider any pardon involving Low. He added that any decision taken by the United States would be a matter for its own authorities, but it would not alter Malaysia’s legal and policy position.
