UNITED STATES, 23 October 2025 – NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed on Wednesday that the league will not change its mind about having global music star Bad Bunny headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

Goodell made his comments after facing criticism about the choice, including from President Donald Trump and some of his supporters.

Bad Bunny, who performs mainly in Spanish, has been known for speaking out against Trump.

When asked about the backlash, Goodell said the NFL stands by its decision.

“It’s carefully thought through,” he stated, adding that there is always some criticism when selecting a performer for a massive audience of hundreds of millions.

Goodell defended the choice by pointing to the artist’s huge popularity and saying that he is one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world.

“That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us.”

Bad Bunny is expected to perform in Spanish at the Super Bowl, which will be held on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
