Bitcoin Breaks New Record, Surges Past $125,000 on Institutional Demand and Policy Optimism

UNITED STATES, 05 October 2025 – Bitcoin soared to a new all-time high above US$125,000 on Sunday, extending its recent rally as investor optimism grew over friendlier U.S. regulations and strong institutional inflows.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency by market value was up 2.7% at US$125,245.57 at 0512 GMT, surpassing its previous record of US$124,480 set in mid-August.

Bitcoin’s latest climb follows a sustained eight-session winning streak, buoyed by robust demand from institutional investors and steady inflows into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Policy Tailwinds and Market Sentiment

The rally has been underpinned by supportive signals from U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, which has taken a more accommodating stance on digital asset regulation compared to previous years. The shift has revived confidence among major market participants and accelerated institutional adoption.

The momentum in Bitcoin also mirrored gains in U.S. equities on Friday, as risk appetite improved across broader financial markets.

In contrast, the U.S. dollar weakened, posting multi-week losses against major currencies amid growing uncertainty surrounding the U.S. government shutdown and delays in key economic data releases such as payroll reports.

Bitcoin’s record-breaking surge cements its status as a dominant alternative asset class, with traders eyeing the US$130,000 level as the next potential milestone if institutional momentum continues through October.
