KUALA LUMPUR, 23 September 2025– MMC Port Holdings Berhad (MMC Ports), Malaysia’s largest container port operator, has received approval from the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to proceed with its proposed listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.

The initial public offering (IPO) will comprise up to 4.3 billion shares, representing 30% of MMC Ports’ issued share capital of approximately 14.2 billion shares.

Of the 4.3 billion shares:

  • 284.8 million shares will be allocated to the Malaysian public.
  • 1.3 million shares will be offered to MMC Ports’ Directors and key senior management.
  • The remaining balance of up to 4.0 billion shares will be placed with Malaysian and foreign institutional investors, as well as selected investors.

A Leading Regional Port Operator

MMC Ports is Malaysia’s largest container port operator and the country’s main hub for both transshipment and gateway cargo. Globally, it ranks as the #1 privately-owned port operator in Southeast Asia and #5 among leading private terminal operators worldwide, based on equity-adjusted throughput in 2023.

Dato’ Azman Shah bin Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of MMC Ports, said the listing marks a milestone in the company’s journey:

“Having established ourselves as Malaysia’s largest port operator, we are looking forward to embark on the next phase of our corporate journey as part of our natural progression towards elevating our corporate profile and broadening our visibility amongst the investment community by tapping into the capital markets.”

He added that Malaysia’s ambition to position itself as a global transshipment hub underscores the importance of the nation’s port infrastructure:

“As the proud operator of four of the five largest ports in Malaysia in terms of container throughput in 2024, two of which are amongst Southeast Asia’s top seven ports, we are already in the midst of expanding our container and conventional cargo handling capacity and enhancing our operational efficiency through digitalisation and automation to meet the growing needs within the Strait of Malacca.”

MMC Ports is also exploring inorganic growth through strategic partnerships, capitalising on shifting global supply chains, regional distribution hub relocations, and the overall rise in global trade.
