KUALA LUMPUR: ITMAX System Berhad has secured its sixth artificial intelligence-powered video surveillance contract, a RM51.0 million deal with the Batu Pahat Municipal Council (MPBP) to transform the Johor town into a smarter, connected city.
The 180-month contract will be carried out under a monthly subscription model, covering the deployment and maintenance of a smart integrated operations centre, an AI-powered closed-circuit camera system, and an AI-enhanced smart traffic light system.
The deal was awarded to ITMAX’s subsidiary Southmax Sdn Bhd.
Driving Smart City Transformation
ITMAX Managing Director and CEO William Tan Wei Lun said the contract highlights both the company’s technology leadership and its recurring-revenue subscription model.
“We are proud to support MPBP in its transformation into a smart, connected city. With our end-to-end digital infrastructure capabilities, ranging from proprietary AI software and in-house research and development to our privately owned fiber network, ITMAX offers unmatched integration and security,” he said.
“This latest win is not just a contract; it’s a long-term partnership to improve public safety, traffic efficiency, and urban management in Batu Pahat. This contract also enhances our long-term earnings visibility and underscores the effectiveness of our subscription-based model, a model that shifts the burden of capital expenditure away from councils while delivering cutting-edge technology with full lifecycle support.”
This marks ITMAX’s sixth contract in the AI-powered surveillance space, strengthening its position as a key player in Malaysia’s smart city development.
