Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 5 November 2026 – Kuala Lumpur City Hall has taken enforcement action involving 602 public housing and People’s Housing Programme units, with 323 vacated, according to a written parliamentary reply issued on 4 November. Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh said the operations covered January to 23 September 2026, and 193 recovered units had been offered to eligible applicants.
For households and businesses concerned with Kuala Lumpur’s affordability pressures, the figures show a city relying on better use of existing rental housing rather than additional supply. Another 130 units were being offered in stages to 234 waiting applicants. The numbers describe vacancies and offers, not completed moves into every recovered home or a commitment to eliminate the waiting list.
