Kuala Lumpur, 4 November 2026 – Malaysia’s Ministry of Health seized 130,678 illegal pharmaceutical products valued at RM3.15 million during Operation Pangea XVIII in 2026, as authorities stepped up enforcement against unauthorised medicine sales, particularly through online platforms. The figures were highlighted at the Unknown Sources: Know the Source Before You Trust the Promise forum held in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, supported by Novo Malaysia as part of efforts to strengthen public awareness of medicine safety.
For Malaysian consumers, healthcare providers and online businesses, the enforcement figures highlight the risks of purchasing medicines from unfamiliar or unauthorised sources. Growing demand for treatments involving diabetes, weight management and other chronic conditions has increased the importance of verifying product registration, obtaining professional advice and understanding whether medicines have been supplied through legitimate channels. The concerns extend beyond counterfeit products to include unregistered medicines, inappropriate advertising, uncertain storage conditions and the absence of medical supervision.
