Kuala Lumpur, 30 October 2026 – YTL Power International Bhd’s proposed development at Bukit Kerayong in Selangor could theoretically accommodate up to 4 gigawatts (GW) of data-centre capacity, MBSB Research said. The estimate assumes about 500 acres of the 657.09-hectare freehold site are allocated to data-centre use. YTL Power, SD Guthrie Bhd and Bumi Assets Sdn Bhd are developing the land through Bukit Kerayong Industrial Developments Sdn Bhd, with YTL Power and Bumi Assets each holding 35 per cent and SD Guthrie 30 per cent.
The proposal matters to Asian businesses and investors because data-centre growth is shifting from a single-site story to a regional infrastructure pipeline. The 4GW figure is a research estimate, not a committed build-out, and the confirmed development remains an integrated industrial proposal. The opportunity is therefore significant but conditional: power availability, planning approvals, customer demand, water, grid connections and the partners’ final land-use decision will determine how much capacity can be delivered and when.
