Kuala Lumpur, 30 October 2026 – Red Hat has opened an Asia-Pacific artificial-intelligence Centre of Excellence in Singapore, positioning the city-state as a regional engineering base for organisations seeking to move AI projects from experimentation into production. The centre is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board and will draw on open-source technologies, hybrid cloud systems and specialist engineering teams.
The new hub will pursue two connected tracks. Its engineers will develop reusable software architectures for common enterprise challenges, while also contributing code to upstream open-source projects to address requirements in system deployment, runtime optimisation and platform management. The approach is intended to shorten the path between customer problems and product development.

Competition among Asian technology hubs will keep expectations high. Singapore will need to retain engineers and convert collaborations into repeat business, while Red Hat must show that open-source flexibility can deliver reliable economics at scale. The centre’s regional value will be judged by adoption beyond its home market.
