Kuala Lumpur, 30 October 2026 – CelcomDigi Bhd, through its subsidiary CelcomDigi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, has received spectrum assignments from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for two frequency bands. The assignments cover 2×20 megahertz in the 2600MHz band for four years and 2×5 megahertz in the 900MHz band for five years. The awards give the operator defined access to additional radio capacity under time-limited terms.
The development matters to Malaysian businesses and investors because spectrum determines how mobile operators expand capacity, improve coverage and support data-heavy services. The confirmed facts are the bands and assignment periods; the commercial benefit depends on network deployment, traffic growth, device compatibility and the cost of upgrading sites. More spectrum can improve the customer experience, but it does not automatically produce higher returns if operators spend heavily without matching demand or pricing discipline.
