Singapore, 29 October 2026 – Malayan Banking Bhd has extended access to its Malaysia Ringgit Current Account to eligible Singapore-based corporate clients, adding a banking option for firms with payment or receivable flows involving Malaysia. The account lets qualifying businesses hold ringgit and make permitted payments to Malaysian residents. Maybank Singapore’s terms specify applicants must be non-Malaysia-registered, non-financial corporates with an existing Maybank Singapore corporate current account, subject to approval.
The change matters to companies operating across the Johor-Singapore corridor and wider bilateral trade because managing ringgit balances can reduce the need to convert funds for each eligible payment. It does not remove foreign-exchange risk or make the account a general-purpose cross-border wallet. Published terms limit use to permitted flows and describe the account as non-interest-bearing.
