Affin Group Announces Hanif Ghulam as New CEO of Affin Hwang Investment Bank

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8, 2025 — Affin Group has appointed Hanif Ghulam Mohammed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad, effective 9 September 2025. The internally promoted leader brings over two decades of institutional banking experience to the role.

Previously serving as Executive Director of Group Treasury at Affin Bank Berhad since December 2021, Hanif has also held positions such as Regional Head of Islamic Treasury and Director of Fixed Income, underscoring his deep expertise in debt capital markets and Islamic finance.BusinessToday In addition, he holds influential positions outside the bank, including membership in Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Markets Committee and chairmanship of its Islamic Financial Markets Subcommittee.

Strategic Direction and Industry Significance

Hanif succeeds Nurjesmi Mohd Nashir, who resigned in May and subsequently joined RHB Bank Bhd in July as head of wholesale banking.

Hanif’s deep roots in treasury management and his regulatory insights suggest that Affin Hwang will maintain its strategic focus on non-interest income growth, Islamic finance leadership, and capital markets expansion, especially in light of Affin Bank’s growing role in regional deals and its substantial shareholder base, including the Sarawak government.
