Kuala Lumpur, 15 October 2026 – The ringgit ended firmer against the US dollar on Thursday as investors adopted a more constructive risk stance ahead of fresh inflation data from the United States. The local currency closed at 4.0805/0850 to the greenback at 6pm, compared with 4.0835/0880 at the previous close.
The move was modest, but it kept the ringgit supported near the stronger end of its recent range. Currency traders were positioning for the next signal on US price pressures, which could influence expectations for interest rates and the dollar. A softer inflation reading would generally reduce pressure on Asian currencies, while a stronger result could revive demand for the greenback.
