Petaling Jaya, 1 October 2026 – IOI Properties Group and Marriott International have agreed on four new hotel developments in Malaysia that are expected to add 888 rooms across urban and leisure markets. The planned properties are The Ritz-Carlton, Putrajaya; W Langkawi; Aloft by Marriott Sepang; and Aloft by Marriott Johor Bahru Plentong. The agreement expands an existing relationship, but the rooms are planned supply, not operating inventory or immediate hotel earnings.

The mix is deliberate. Putrajaya can draw government, corporate and event demand; Langkawi depends more on leisure travel and premium positioning; Sepang serves an airport-linked market; and Johor Bahru benefits from business and visitor flows near Singapore. Different locations and brands reduce reliance on one visitor segment, though each property has its own development cost, competitive set and opening risk.
