Hong Kong, 28 September 2026 – The US dollar edged higher near a two-month high on Monday as expensive oil and uncertainty over the next Federal Reserve decision kept investors focused on inflation and yield differentials. An early currency report placed the dollar index around 101.15, with the gauge on course for an approximately 1.7% September gain at that point. The observation describes an intraday snapshot and a provisional month-to-date move, not a final September outcome.
The euro and sterling were each about 0.1% softer against the dollar in the report, near US$1.1379 and US$1.3232 respectively. The yen was around 157.7 per dollar. These figures point to a broad, though modest, dollar bid in the initial Asian session. They should not be compared mechanically with quotes captured later in different time zones: foreign-exchange markets trade continuously, and apparently inconsistent levels often reflect different timestamps.
