Beijing, 23 September 2026 – Malaysia and China have signed two transport-related memoranda intended to deepen cooperation across land, rail, maritime, aviation and logistics systems while strengthening civil-aviation safety oversight. The agreements add a practical infrastructure dimension to the two countries’ expanding economic relationship and could support more efficient trade flows between Malaysian gateways and Chinese industrial networks.
Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke and his Chinese counterpart Liu Wei signed the broader cooperation framework, which covers exchanges in technical expertise, institutional capacity and emerging transport technology. The agenda includes artificial intelligence, green transport and low-carbon infrastructure, areas where both governments are seeking to improve efficiency while meeting longer-term environmental and competitiveness objectives.
