Hangzhou, 23 September 2026 – Alibaba has introduced its Zhenwu V900 artificial-intelligence accelerator and set a target of 20 gigawatts of Alibaba Cloud data-centre capacity by 2032, placing semiconductors and power infrastructure at the centre of its next growth phase. The company says the new chip delivers three times the performance of its predecessor and can be combined in clusters of as many as 500,000 units for frontier-model training.

The launch gives investors a clearer view of how Alibaba intends to compete as access to advanced imported processors becomes more constrained. Its T-Head chip division is being positioned as both an internal supplier and a potential standalone value pool, while the cloud business provides a large captive customer. Alibaba has also committed more than US$53 billion over three years to AI capabilities and raised about US$10.2 billion in an August Hong Kong follow-on offering.
