San Francisco, 23 September 2026 – Anthropic and OpenEvidence are partnering to provide free AI-powered clinical decision support to healthcare professionals across about 100 low- and middle-income countries. The initiative aims to narrow access gaps in medical literature and specialist knowledge by delivering regionally adapted information through smartphones, including in markets where hospitals face limited subscriptions, infrastructure and continuing education.

OpenEvidence answers clinicians’ questions using peer-reviewed research and treatment guidelines and is already free to doctors in the United States and Europe. The new version extends that model to countries including Uganda, Angola, Sudan, Haiti and Mongolia. Anthropic will provide underlying AI capability, while OpenEvidence will tailor output to local disease patterns, available diagnostics and treatment resources.
