In the advisory, scammers impersonate employees of Harvey Norman and claim a television purchase or delivery has been arranged in the victim’s name. The unsolicited transaction is designed to create alarm. A second caller then poses as an official from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, claiming the victim is implicated in a case and must cooperate. The sequence exploits the credibility of both a familiar retailer and a government institution.
