Kuala Lumpur, 27 August 2026 – Malayan Banking Berhad recorded a modest increase in second-quarter profit as lower operating expenses and impairment charges offset softer revenue, supporting a higher interim dividend. Net profit for the three months ended 30 June 2026 rose just over 2% to RM2.69 billion, or 22.24 sen per share, from RM2.63 billion, or 21.75 sen per share, a year earlier.
Quarterly revenue declined 5.8% to RM16.1 billion from RM17.1 billion, underscoring that the improvement in earnings was driven more by cost and credit discipline than broad top-line expansion. Net interest income and Islamic banking income edged 0.1% higher to RM5.39 billion, while other operating income increased by RM250.2 million to RM2.93 billion, helped by movements in derivatives and financial assets.
