Tokyo, 26 August 2026 – Japanese technology and investment titan SoftBank Group Corp has officially launched a monumental 900 billion yen (US$6.25 billion) subordinated retail bond offering across domestic financial brokerages in Tokyo, marking one of the largest corporate bond issuances targeted at individual investors in Japanese capital market history.
The massive seven-year retail debt offering, carrying an attractive indicative coupon rate between 2.85% and 3.25%, is engineered to harness Japan’s multi-trillion-yen household cash deposits as domestic retail investors actively seek yield following the Bank of Japan’s exit from negative interest rates. Under the strategic stewardship of founder and chief executive Masayoshi Son, the net bond proceeds will be deployed into SoftBank’s ambitious artificial intelligence investment offensive, focusing on hyperscale compute clusters, generative AI model infrastructure, autonomous robotics architectures, and the global expansion of semiconductor design subsidiary Arm Holdings.
