The result highlights why investors must distinguish accounting charges from the operating performance and cash-generation capacity of a diversified Malaysian group.

Batu Kawan reported a net loss of RM653.16 million for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, compared with a net profit of RM182.92 million in the same quarter a year earlier. The loss was mainly attributable to a RM1.62 billion impairment on Kuala Lumpur Kepong’s investment in United Kingdom-listed associate Synthomer plc.
