Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, 17 August 2026 – Malaysia’s Health Ministry has created 607 new posts and approved RM1.57 billion for healthcare development in Sabah, a substantial intervention aimed at easing workforce shortages and improving access across the state.
The package combines recurrent human-capital needs with longer-term infrastructure spending. For Sabah, where distance, geography and uneven facility distribution raise the cost of delivering public services, additional positions can be as important as new buildings and equipment.
