Hong Kong, 10 August 2026 – Cathay Group reported attributable profit of HK$6.2 billion for the first half of 2026, up from HK$3.7 billion a year earlier, as stronger airline operations and associate contributions outweighed a sharp second-quarter increase in jet-fuel costs.
The headline result included HK$1 billion of non-recurring gains. The largest component was an approximately HK$1.4 billion non-cash deemed partial-disposal gain caused by dilution of the group’s equity interest in Air China. That accounting effect means investors should separate the reported improvement from the underlying performance of the airlines and subsidiaries.
