Singapore, 7 August 2026 – Gold traded within a narrow range near US$4,245 an ounce as investors assessed renewed tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and their potential consequences for oil prices, inflation and United States interest rates.
Bullion steadied after declining 0.2% in the previous session. The restrained movement suggested that traders were balancing gold’s traditional defensive appeal against the possibility that higher energy costs could keep monetary policy restrictive.
