Sydney, 4 August 2026 – Australia’s corporate regulator has proposed simplifying the rules governing investment-bank research around initial public offerings, seeking to give analysts greater flexibility while preserving protections against conflicts of interest and misuse of confidential information.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission plans to replace its existing 42-page guidance on sell-side research with an eight-page, principles-based framework. The proposed overhaul of Regulatory Guide 264 is intended to remove prescriptive requirements that market participants say complicate capital-raising activity.
