Manila, 3 August 2026 – The World Bank has maintained its 2026 growth forecast for the Philippines at 3.7%, signalling a pronounced slowdown as external energy shocks, weak investment and domestic governance concerns constrain one of Southeast Asia’s major economies.
The forecast compares with estimated growth of 4.4% in 2025 and 5.7% in 2024. It would mark the weakest annual expansion since 2011 outside the pandemic period, before a projected recovery to 5.6% in both 2027 and 2028 as conditions normalise.
