Wild Market Week Puts Central Banks, Currencies and Earnings in Focus

London, 31 July 2026 – Global investors are closing a volatile week shaped by central-bank signals, suspected currency intervention, sharply divided technology earnings and changing expectations for economic growth. The moves have created a market in which asset classes are responding to different forces, making broad risk-on or risk-off labels increasingly inadequate.

Japan has been a central focus as policy expectations and action around the yen altered currency positioning.
