Seoul, 31 July 2026 – Shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix surged as South Korea’s technology market rebounded from a punishing sell-off, restoring investor appetite for the two companies at the centre of the global AI-memory boom. Samsung rose by more than 20% during the rally, while SK Hynix gained roughly a quarter, helping drive an extraordinary advance in the benchmark equity index.
The rebound followed sharp losses that had raised questions about whether enthusiasm for artificial intelligence infrastructure had moved too far ahead of earnings. Strong results across the global technology sector helped reverse that mood. Investors returned to companies supplying high-bandwidth memory and other advanced components needed for AI accelerators, servers and data centres.
