Hong Kong, 30 July 2026 – Hong Kong’s gold imports reached an 11-year high in June, reinforcing the city’s effort to expand its role as a regional bullion trading, storage and settlement centre at a time of strong Asian demand for physical precious metals.
The surge sits within a broader rebound in merchandise trade. Hong Kong’s total imports rose sharply from a year earlier in June, while policy makers have been promoting additional vault capacity and market infrastructure to connect international flows with demand from mainland China and other Asian buyers.
