MACC Professionalism Pledge Targets Confidence in Malaysia’s Institutions

Kuala Lumpur, 29 July 2026 – Malaysia’s anti-corruption commission has pledged to uphold professionalism, transparency and integrity despite negative perceptions surrounding its investigations. Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman said confidence must be earned through lawful procedures, credible results and consistent conduct.

The statement addresses a recurring institutional challenge. Investigations often create competing expectations before evidence has been tested or a decision has been made. Abd Halim argued that dissatisfaction from affected parties should not intimidate officers when inquiries are conducted according to law, procedure and due process.
