Malaysia Targets Place Among World’s 12 Most Competitive Economies

Kuala Lumpur, 27 July 2026 – Malaysia is on track to become one of the world’s 12 most competitive economies under the 13th Malaysia Plan after recording a substantial improvement in its latest international competitiveness ranking.

Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah said Malaysia’s advancement in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2026 provides a strong foundation for achieving the government’s longer-term target.
