Nvidia Weighs US$250 Billion Guarantee for OpenAI Data Centre Financing

Santa Clara, 27 July 2026 – Nvidia is in discussions to provide approximately US$250 billion in financial guarantees supporting OpenAI’s proposed artificial intelligence data centre in Ohio, potentially expanding the chipmaker’s role from equipment supplier and investor to a major infrastructure backer.

The proposed guarantee would help support OpenAI’s lease commitments and the debt financing required to construct the facility. It would not cover the Nvidia processors and computing systems expected to operate inside the data centre.
