Samsung Launches Wider Galaxy Fold8 as Chip Costs Drive Price Increases

Seoul, 22 July 2026 – Samsung Electronics has introduced three new Galaxy Z foldable smartphones, including a wider passport-sized model, as the South Korean technology group responds to rising component costs and intensifying competition in the premium-device market.

The new Galaxy Z Fold8 features a shorter and wider format intended to provide a more practical display for video, productivity and multitasking. The device is priced from US$1,899.
