Washington, 17 July 2026 – United States federal employees may now download TikTok on government-issued devices, following a legal determination that an earlier prohibition no longer applies after the restructuring of the platform’s US data and operations.
The Justice Department concluded that the current version of TikTok does not present the same national security risks that prompted Congress to restrict the application on federal devices in 2022.
