Beijing, 17 July 2026 – Chinese artificial intelligence developer Moonshot AI has launched Kimi K3, a powerful open-weight model designed for advanced reasoning, long-duration coding and complex knowledge work, marking another significant step in China’s effort to challenge US leadership in frontier AI.
Kimi K3 contains 2.8 trillion total parameters, making it one of the largest publicly accessible AI models released to date. It also supports a context window of up to one million tokens, allowing users to process extensive documents, software repositories and multi-stage tasks within a single workflow.
