China Sends Humanoid Robots Overseas to Build an Embodied AI Data Advantage

Kuala Lumpur, 16 July 2026 – Chinese robotics companies are deploying humanoid machines beyond their domestic market, using overseas factories, public spaces and commercial demonstrations to gather the real-world data required to make robots more capable, adaptable and human-like.

The strategy reflects a fundamental difference between conventional artificial intelligence and embodied AI. Language models learn from text, images and other digital material, while robots must understand physical environments, balance, movement, force and unpredictable human behaviour.
