Singapore, 14 July 2026 – United Microelectronics Corporation has begun commercial production of silicon photonics wafers at its 12-inch fabrication facility in Singapore, expanding the Taiwanese foundry’s exposure to artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
The first mass-production wafers were delivered to Singapore-based fabless silicon photonics company SILITH Technology. Their delivery marks the transition of the companies’ collaboration from development into commercial manufacturing.
