Singapore-Malaysia Ties Built On Trust, Respect And Shared Interests, Says Tharman

Singapore, 12 July 2026 – Singapore and Malaysia’s partnership has been strengthened by mutual respect, practical cooperation and a clear understanding of each other’s interests, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam said ahead of his first state visit to Malaysia.

Tharman is scheduled to visit Malaysia from July 12 to 15 at the invitation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim. The visit comes after Sultan Ibrahim’s state visit to Singapore in May 2024 and reflects the continued importance of high-level engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
