Malaysia And Thailand Resolve Fisheries Dispute, Move Ahead With Border Economic Zone

Putrajaya, 10 July 2026 – Malaysia and Thailand have resolved a fisheries trade dispute and agreed to move forward with plans for a special border economic zone, marking a fresh push to strengthen trade, agriculture, logistics and cross-border cooperation between the two neighbouring economies.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed the agreement following bilateral talks in Putrajaya during Anutin’s two-day official visit to Malaysia.
