Jakarta, 19 October 2026 – The Indonesia Stock Exchange plans to exclude companies with highly concentrated share ownership from the calculation of the Jakarta Composite Index. Such stocks currently represent about 18% of the benchmark’s total weighting, according to exchange chief executive Jeffrey Hendrik, making the proposed change material for index composition and reported market performance.

For Asian investors, the reform aims to make Indonesia’s headline index more representative of shares that are genuinely available for trading. The exclusion plan and 18% weighting are confirmed, but the exchange has not yet published the implementation date or final methodology. Portfolio effects will depend on transition rules, free-float thresholds and which companies remain classified as highly concentrated.
