Washington, 26 June 2026 – The United States government has reportedly asked OpenAI to stagger the release of its latest artificial intelligence model so that early-access organisations can first be vetted, signalling a sharper national-security focus around the deployment of frontier AI systems.
The move reflects growing concern among policymakers that the most advanced AI models could create risks for cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, financial systems and sensitive industries if released too broadly or too quickly. Instead of a full immediate rollout, selected organisations are expected to gain early access only after passing government screening.
