Singapore, 10 June 2026 – Shopee is cutting hundreds of developer jobs globally as parent company Sea accelerates its shift toward artificial intelligence, underscoring how AI is beginning to reshape workforce structures across Southeast Asia’s technology sector.
The reductions, which reportedly started this week, amount to about 8% of Shopee’s developer workforce. The job cuts affect technical roles including quality assurance, with further reductions still possible as the company continues to review its operations.
