Bursa Malaysia Snaps Five-Day Rally as Profit-Taking Hits Banking Heavyweights

Kuala Lumpur, 8 May 2026 – Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Friday, snapping a five-day winning streak as investors locked in gains after a strong recent run, while weaker global sentiment and renewed geopolitical concerns kept risk appetite subdued.

At the close, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI fell 10.79 points, or 0.61%, to 1,748.06, ending at its intraday low after closing at 1,758.85 on Thursday. The decline reflected a bout of profit-taking after the benchmark index had advanced over the previous five sessions.
