Kuala Lumpur, 5 May 2026 – Petronas Gas Berhad is set to develop Malaysia’s third regasification terminal in Lumut, Perak, marking a major step in strengthening the country’s liquefied natural gas infrastructure as energy demand continues to rise across Peninsular Malaysia.
The project, known as RGT-3, will be based on a floating storage and regasification unit concept, making it Malaysia’s first floating LNG regasification terminal. Petronas Gas received a notification letter from the Ministry of Economy on 30 April 2026 to develop the facility and is also exploring joint development with a potential partner.
