Microsoft Bets on Record AI Spending as Cloud Growth Stays Strong

Seattle, 30 April 2026 – Microsoft is preparing for another major expansion of its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure, forecasting stronger-than-expected Azure growth while planning record capital spending as competition intensifies across the global AI economy.

The company expects Azure revenue to grow between 39 percent and 40 percent year-on-year in its fiscal fourth quarter, ahead of Wall Street’s estimate of about 36.7 percent. Microsoft also forecast total quarterly revenue of between US$86.7 billion and US$87.8 billion, broadly in line with market expectations. The outlook suggests that demand for cloud computing and AI services remains resilient despite rising investor concerns over the cost of building the infrastructure needed to support advanced AI systems.
